Security software vendor is hoping to attract resellers with its data protection portfolio.
Data protection vendor Safend is reaching out to potential partners in the UK following the release of a new version of its Data Protection Suite.
The Israeli firm showcased the products a few weeks ago at InfoSec, and is now keen to sign up more resellers to sell the range. It includes its hard drive encryption product Safend Encryptor, and its content inspection and filtering solution, Safend Inspector, which is due for release at the end of they year.
Safend Encryptor is a file-based hard disk encryption product that protects sensitive data residing on PCs and laptops, while leaving programmes and operating systems untouched.
The solution has been designed to be transparent to end users, help desk, and administrators as it requires no changes to work processes, working from a user’s existing Windows login interface. “It is a transparent programme, you just set it up and forget it,” says Safend’s VP of product marketing, Edy Almer, who also claims the software is “easier to deploy, operate and manage” than competitor McAfee’s software.
Safend Inspector, meanwhile, analyses the content of files that are being sent outside the corporate network and can either block, or notify the end user or administrator to enable even greater control over sensitive data. It recognises and controls content transfer to external devices, network shares and printers. “Inspector looks inside files and transfers for any sensitive data that’s being sent outside the organisation – anywhere it can be sent, uploaded or copied. It then blocks it in a granular way,” says Almer.
Inspector can identify and distinguish different types of numbers in context such as UK national insurance numbers, US Social Security numbers and credit card numbers, to avoid incidences of ‘false positives’.
Safend is distributed by
Vigil Software in the UK, and existing channel partners include Trustmarque and GSS.
