Removable Media Encryption

Unique to the Safend Protector solution is the ability to restrict the usage of storage devices to company computers by use of AES of 256 bit key length encryption. This extends the security borders of organizations and prevents rogue employees from deliberately leaking data through these high-capacity devices.

  • Portable, Agent-less Offline Access Utility - encrypted devices now carry the Offline Access Utility on board, ensuring availability of the encrypted data to the authorized user at all times.
  • Enhanced Encryption End User Experience - A streamlined wizard guides the user while initializing new devices, setting offline access passwords and removing encryption from device. Support for automatic backup/restore to maintain the existing data while initializing encrypted devices

CD/DVD Encryption
Safend Protector includes a broader level of encryption with addition of Virtual Volume Encryption to the existing removable storage encryption feature.  Virtual Volume Encryption provides customers the ability to encrypt data on CD/DVD media and external hard drives.  It also enables them to selectively encrypt data on their internal hard drives.

As with all Safend Protector's encryption features, Virtual Volume Encryption uses the FIPS approved AES with a 256-bit key.

How does CD/DVD disk encryption work?

  1. Create encrypted virtual volumes containing files or folders (similarly to the way compressed archives contain files and folders).
  2. Virtual volume can then be burned to CD/DVD media, copied to an external hard drive or used to secure private folders on end-user internal hard drives.
  3. Any file or folder subsequently residing in this volume is encrypted.
