Safend Data Protection Suite features a generic capability that leverages 3rd party existing content monitoring and filtering solutions, while preventing data leakage on endpoints. With this capability (named “Interface to Content Inspection” or ICI), Safend integrates with several vendors to maximize the value for its customers.
Each file that is downloaded from an endpoint to an external storage device can be inspected to determine if it contains sensitive information of any kind (e.g., intellectual property, consumer data, etc.). Once it is determined that the file contains sensitive information, the proper security action is enforced (block file transfer or warn the user that the action is illegitimate) and a trace log is created for the administrator. With this log, available from the Safend Management Console, the administrator is provided with a fine-grained list of data breaches through external storage devices.
With this feature, customers can use their existing content inspection console for defining content-related rules which classify sensitive data, whereas Safend policies define which files downloaded to external storage devices should be inspected. These are then sent to the content inspection software for inspection, where the content–related rules classify sensitive and non-sensitive files.
Safend ICI is integrated with both Websense Data Security Suite and Workshare Protect content inspection products.
*This feature is offered as an add-on to Safend Protector and requires an additional license
