December 11, 2006-Philadelphia- Safend, an international leader in endpoint security solutions, announced today that its award-winning Safend Protector product is in the evaluation stage for receiving Common Criteria (CC) certification at Evaluation Assurance Level (EAL) 2. Common Criteria certification is only awarded to solutions which are rigorously tested by an approved Common Criteria Testing Laboratory and meet the stringent requirements established by the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP).
Safend Protector secures enterprise endpoints from data leakage and penetration through physical and wireless ports including USB, FireWire, WiFi, Bluetooth, Infrared (IrDA), and CD/DVDs as well as providing data encryption, anti-network bridging capabilities, and protection from hardware keylogging devices.
Reaching this stage in the EAL Level 2 certification process provides Safend Protector as a comprehensive endpoint solution choice to government agencies and private enterprises that are required to purchase only those products that meet Common Criteria standards.
The Common Criteria certification process was established to ensure that IT products meet the needs of government and industry consumers; to establish consistent standards for testing IT products; to encourage the formation of security testing laboratories and a security testing industry; and to increase the availability of evaluated IT products.
