Safend Protector Receives 4-Star Review by SC Magazine.
Ease of Use and High-Performance Level Cited in Review of Data Leakage Prevention Solution
September 29, 2008 – Philadelphia – Safend, a leading provider of enterprise endpoint Data Leakage Prevention (DLP) solutions, today announced the company’s flagship product, Safend Protector 3.3, has received four out of five stars in SC Magazine’s Endpoint Security Group Test. Safend also received five out of five stars in the Ease of Use and Performance categories.
In the review, SC Magazine states, “Safend Protector is an offering that is less of a suite of products and more of a unified application.” Safend Protector is “a mid-priced offering with some unique bells and whistles. The Safend product performed well and kept us abreast of what was happening on the network. We were also impressed by the support of many Microsoft clients, including the less frequently used 64-bit version of XP and Vista.” In addition, “Safend Protector also includes Safend Auditor, a tool that allows for easier administration. In the lab, we found the Auditor to be one of the more impressive components of the Safend Protector suite.”
Safend Protector guards confidential data stored on organizations’ PCs and laptops against loss, tampering and theft by both monitoring the transfer of sensitive data as well as controlling access to removable storage devices and wireless communication ports, including USB, FireWire, WiFi, Bluetooth, Infrared (IrDA) and CD/DVDs. Safend also protects against USB/PS2 keyloggers and offers additional layers of protection with removable/external storage and CD/DVD disk encryption and offline tracking of USB storage devices. Management features include file shadowing, load balancing, management by domain and options for enterprise organizations to manage the entire deployment through a single Safend Server.
“We are pleased that SC Magazine recognized Safend Protector with four stars. Customers are looking for an easy-to-use, reliable and unified solution – all attributes in which our product received high marks,” said Gil Sever, CEO of Safend. “The flexibility of Safend Protector allows organizations to authorize how end users connect to PCs and Laptops and what content they are approved to access, enabling administrators to provide employees with the tools and information they need to be productive without creating a security risk for sensitive data. With evolving threats to data security in the news every day, Safend aims to provide the most granular and comprehensive endpoint DLP offering on the market.”
SC Magazine reviewers chose a Windows XP client for testing the solutions’ configurations and a Windows 2003 server to test management capabilities. All testing was performed inside of a virtual environment and SC Magazine reviewed all products’ abilities using everything from a small USB drive up to its libraries of rootkits, botnets and other malicious software.
